Project and Task Administration

Top  Previous  Next

Projects and Tasks are the principle classifications against which time is recorded. Tasks are sub-classifications of Projects.

If you prefer to use a different terms than "Project" and "Task"  then you can change them in configurable text.

Billing

Apart from the default User rate Project and Task administration is used to associate billing rates with Projects, Tasks and Users. In order to give as much flexibility as possible a rate can be assigned to a Project, Task, Project/User or Task/User. Rates are assigned at the time records are recorded in the time entry applications. DbNetTime use the following sequence to find the rate that should be assigned to the time record. The first rate is finds (including 0.00 rates) will be assigned to that time record. If no rate is found the then task is assumed to be outside of billing and will not appear on any billing reports.

1.Task/User rate
2.Project/User rate
3.Task Rate
4.Project Rate
5.User Rate

Once a rate is assigned it will not change if the source rate is changed. This means that if you increase a rate the original rate will still be reported for any time records assigned with the original rate.
